Senator Sheldon Whitehouse

(D-RI)

U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is fighting to reduce carbon pollution, protect our air and water, and position America as a leader in the clean energy economy.  As a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) and Finance Committees, he plays a key role in crafting policies to address climate change and strengthen environmental protections.

Every week, Sen. Whitehouse takes to the Senate floor to call on Congress to wake up to the threat of climate change. Whitehouse co-founded the Senate Climate Action Task Force to build support for action to address carbon pollution.  He sits on Senate Democrats’ Special Committee on the Climate Crisis.

Representative Raul Grijalva (D-AZ)

Grijalva is an advocate of mining law reform and many other environmental causes. From his position on the House Committee on Natural Resources—where he has been the top Democrat on the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands since 2007—he has led Democratic efforts to strengthen federal offshore oil drilling oversight since before the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill and introduced a successful bill to create a permanent National Landscape Conservation System at the Bureau of Land Management. *Source – Wikipedia

Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY)

A Democrat who was first elected to Congress by unseating an entrenched Republican incumbent in the biggest upset in the country in 1992, Carolyn Maloney has been described by The New York Times as a “prolific” legislator, one of a handful who “stand out for their moxie, kind of the way New Yorkers themselves often do.” She has made her mark on Washington by standing on her strong and consistent record. Since every lawmaker in Washington knows where Carolyn stands, she has been able to fight tirelessly for New York, leading the Village Voice to call her “a tiger in the House on every dollar due New York”.

Jimmy Carter

The 39th President of the United States has been advocating for the preservation of our natural places long before he entered the White House. As a young boy, born into the farming tradition, he learned the value of protecting the environment and honoring what nature has given us. Among his environmentally conscious achievements during his term in office was strengthening the role of the Environmental Protection Agency, establishing the Superfund to pay for the clean up of toxic waste sites and protecting millions of acres of natural, pristine wilderness areas in Alaska that will endure for generations to come.

Carole King

World renowned music legend, recipient of multiple Grammy Awards and 2015 Kennedy Center Honoree, Carole King embraced the region of the northern rockies nearly 40 years ago, settling her family in Idaho. A tenacious environmental activist, Carole has championed the protection of this fragile ecosystem in Congress for the past 25 years, educating Senators, Members of Congress, Cabinet Secretaries and the President about the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, that keeps America’s Hope Diamond, from forever being fragmented and lost to the history books.

Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estafen is recognized around the globe as a Grammy winning singer and accomplished businesswoman. Her commitment to protecting and honoring treasures of the past is expressed in her service as a board member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

“ . . . there are certain things that have been able to stand the test of time. And I think as human beings it gives us a sense of connection, of roots, of being able to point to something and look at it and show our children and teach them.”
